Banatotyphlus Decu 1982

Banatotyphlus Decu, 1982 Banatotyphlus Decu, 1982: 63. Type species: Banatotyphlus racovitzai Decu, 1982. Designated by monotypy. Diagnosis. Gular sutures confluent in anterior third of head length, from confluent point again separated in two, divergent sutures; labrum with small, median tooth; antennae with 11 antennomeres, antennomeres 5 about as large as 4 and 6, antennal club with 5 antennomeres; tarsal formula 3-3-3; ventral part of tarsomere 2 and 3 with spatulate setae; aedeagus asymmetric, parameres completely reduced, invisible. Remarks. The genus is separated from other Metrotyphlini by palpomere 2 and 3 subequal in width; antennae short, antennomeres 3–10 transverse, 3–6 subequal in size, antennomeres 9–11 with sensorial appendages (phaneres); tarsi with 3 tarsomeres. The genus was erected for one species, Banatotyphlus racovitzai Decu 1982 and another three species were described later (Struyve 2022).
