Water in the Arab World between Scarcity and Need

ABSTRACT Water scarcity or scarcity represents a concern that worries many countries, especially those that it is subject to the effects of the dry climate, and the Arab world is considered one of the regions in which drought dominates most of its parts. It is considered the most water-poor region, and it shares its rivers with several countries, which generates a number of political pressures and crises. In addition, the increased demand for water return for The stability and limitation of its water resources led to a decrease in the per capita share of water to less than 1000m year, i.e. below the water poverty line . Therefore, the Arab countries realized the necessity of managing and developing their water resources, so they began to use many strategies to protect water wealth from pollution and maximize its use. They took some methods to improve water use, such as privatization and water pricing, as well as adopting modern technology to raise efficiency in all sectors of water use. Reducing waste, educating the public, adopting non-traditional methods for using non-traditional water(desalination and treated wastewater), following the method of water harvesting, control and storage projects, and modern irrigation.
