Lean Six Sigma in Education Research: Literature Review
Lean process is a systematic method used to improve production efficiency in industry without reducing process productivity. Six sigma is a research approach that functions to identify and reduce defect variation. The success of integrating the Lean Six Sigma model with statistical tools DMAIC (Define Measure Analyze Improve Control); Design of Experiments (DOE); and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in industry provides insights that can be applied in educational research. This study aims to identify the application of LSS in the field of education. The literature sources reviewed amount to 14 out of 210 journal articles through prerequisites using Scopus as a database from 2017 to 2024 to search for literature sources. Research findings show that the implementation of LSS using various statistical tools and several research approaches can improve the quality of education by reducing unnecessary variables. The concept of continuous development and improvement related to the teaching curriculum in a case study approach can be improved by integrating LSS into educational research. This research contributes to being a reference source for future research related to the implementation of LSS in the field of educational research.
