Modern society fails to uphold these progressive traditional values. Transgender people possess the same emotional depth and intellectual capacity as others. Ancient Tamil texts assigned transgender individuals important ritual and artistic functions. Educational institutions often reinforce harmful stereotypes about transgender identities. Employment discrimination excludes transgender people from economic participation. Family rejection remains a traumatic reality for many transgender individuals. The gap between literary ideals and social practice continues to widen dangerously on these issues.
