STATUS OF IMMUNIZATION COVERAGE OF REGION 2 TRAUMA AND MEDICAL CENTER: BASIS FOR ENHANCEMENT OF HEALTH EDUCATION AND PROMOTION
This study investigates the impact of health education and promotion strategies employed by nurses on immunization coverage at the Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center in the Philippines, particularly during the Pre-COVID (2017-2019), COVID (2020-2022), and Post-COVID (2023) periods. Utilizing a quantitative research design, the study combines documentary analysis of vaccination records and a survey questionnaire administered to nurses involved in vaccination duties. The research aims to quantify vaccination coverage rates, identify significant differences between the three time periods, and uncover perceived barriers to effective immunization practices. Specific research questions focus on vaccination trends and the factors contributing to variations in coverage. The findings are anticipated to provide insights into effective health education strategies that can be proposed to enhance vaccination rates. The significance of this research extends to vaccinators, allied health professionals, the Department of Health, local health offices, and future researchers, facilitating targeted interventions based on the identified challenges and barriers to vaccination. Additionally, a proposed information, education, and communication (IEC) material will be developed, informed by the study's findings. Ethical considerations will be strictly upheld, ensuring participant confidentiality and informed consent. By addressing the challenges and opportunities for improving immunization coverage, this research aims to contribute valuable knowledge to enhance public health outcomes in the Cagayan Valley region.
