Fitosocjologiczne zróżnicowanie buczyn w Tatrzańskim Parku Narodowym

In this paper we present the results of phytosociological classification of beech forests in Tatra National Park. The classification was based upon 225 relevés distributed over the entire area of occurrence of Fagus sylvatica forests in the Polish Tatra Mountains. Phytosociological classification was based upon calculations employing a modified TWINSPAN algorithm. As a result, all the relevés were divided into three phytosociological groups. The third group is especially interesting, representing rich calcareous forests, described recently (Pielech et al., 2021) in the Polish Tatras as Aremonio-Fagion. However, based on recent studies it should be classified to the Alpine and Western Carpathian alliance of Lonicero alpigenae-Fagion sylvaticae (Ujházyová et al., 2021). The further questions to be solved are: syntaxonomical affinity of remaining clusters of beech forests in the Tatras, the relationships between the Lonicero alpigenae-Fagion sylvaticae alliance and the beech forests described earlier as Luzulo-luzuloidis-Fagetum and Carici albae-Fagetum associations, as well as the relationship between beech and lower montane silver fir (Abies alba) forests. This issues can be solved by numerical analysis of a wider data set containing relevés collected in mixed montane forests in the Tatras.
