The Relationship Between vitamin D statisses and young adult wemen asthma
Abstract Vitamin D plays a critical role in maintaining overall health, particularly in bone metabolism, immune function, and respiratory health. This study examines the relationship between vitamin D status and asthma among young adult women in Baidoa, Somalia. The research aims to assess the impact of vitamin D deficiency on asthma prevalence, severity, and respiratory function in young women. Using a cross-sectional study design, data was collected through surveys, medical assessments, and laboratory tests from young adult women diagnosed with asthma. The findings indicate that a significant proportion of participants suffer from vitamin D deficiency, which is associated with increased asthma symptoms and reduced lung function. Factors contributing to low vitamin D levels include limited sun exposure, poor dietary intake, and lack of awareness regarding vitamin D’s health benefits. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions, including vitamin D supplementation, public health awareness campaigns, and improved dietary strategies to enhance vitamin D levels among young women. Recommendations include incorporating vitamin D screening into routine asthma management, encouraging sun exposure, and promoting balanced diets rich in vitamin D sources. These findings provide valuable insights for healthcare providers, policymakers, and researchers working to improve respiratory health and nutrition in Somalia.
