The one who supports the love of the leader and the beloved is the female friend. The Agam tradition calls the female friend ‘Nannar Makkal’. The female friend plays a special role in the life of the beloved. She acts as a medium between the leader and the beloved. She helps the beloved in her love life. No other information is known about the birth, marriage, or life of the female friend. She is seen as a character created for the leader and the success of the beloved’s love. She cares for the beloved very keenly from her childhood. Sangam literature is mostly internal in meaning. It surpasses time. The hero who is saddened by the separation will come quickly to the heroine and soothe her worries. The female character called the friend is the one who takes care of the heroine’s welfare in all walks of her life. This study shows through the information of the female friend how she helps the beloved to get a safe heart at times of turbulence.
