Skill-Based Education and Its Relevance
Abstract The traditional education system has long prioritized theoretical instruction, often at the expense of practical skills essential for workforce readiness and real-life problem-solving. Skill-based education has become a crucial pillar of contemporary educational reform in an era of rapid technological advancements, globalization, and evolving labour market dynamics. This paper delves into the foundations of skill-based education, analyzing its core principles, significance in modern society, global and national efforts toward its implementation, and the systemic challenges it faces. By integrating academic learning with practical skill acquisition, skill-based education aims to empower individuals, boost employability, and catalyze national development. The paper concludes with targeted recommendations for successfully embedding skill-based frameworks into mainstream education systems.
