«Етика піклування» і «жіночий голос» у романі Джонатана Коу «Поки не випав дощ»
The article examines the novel The Rain Before It Falls by Jonathan Coe in the light of the concept of “the Ethics of Care”. The narrative structure of the novel is analyzed and the role of the female voice in the poetics of the work is revealed. The story is actually very sad. Three generations of families close to the narrator made dramatic mistakes regarding the upbringing of children and their insufficient care. The “female voice” in the process of narration sounds tenderly and poignantly, nostalgically nurturing a sense of romantic elation. Framed narrative helps to involve the reader in the dramatic events described in the novel. The structure-forming role of ekphrasis is indicated. The narrator describes 19 photographic images, one oil portrait, as well as some musical works and compares the artistic possibilities of different art forms.
