Cultural Patterns in the Intersection of Eysenck's Personality Dimensions and Adler's Dominant Lifestyle Principle: A Study on Male Juvenile Delinquents

This study investigates how Eysenck's personality dimensions (Psychoticism, Extraversion, Neuroticism) interactwith Adler's concept of a 'dominant lifestyle' within cultural contexts to predict dominance-oriented attitudes andbehaviors among male juvenile delinquents. Using a cross-sectional sample of N = 120 male adolescents (ages15–21) detained in two juvenile correction centers, we administered the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ),a Dominant Lifestyle Scale (DLS; constructed for this study), and a Cultural Individualism–Collectivism Scale (CIS).Findings indicate that Psychoticism is strongly associated with higher scores on the DLS (r = .52, p < .001), whileNeuroticism shows a moderate positive association (r = .29, p = .001). Extraversion was not significantly correlatedwith DLS (r = .11, p = .21). A multiple regression model including EPQ scales, CIS, and an interaction term(Psychoticism × CIS) accounted for 42% of variance in DLS (R² = .42, F(5,114) = 16.58, p < .001). Psychoticism (β= .45, p < .001), Cultural Individualism (β = .22, p = .007), and the Psychoticism×CIS interaction (β = .15, p = .04)were significant predictors, suggesting cultural patterns moderate the link between personality and dominantlifestyle orientation. Practical implications for culturally sensitive assessment and rehabilitation programs arediscussed. Keywords: Eysenck, Adler, dominant lifestyle, juvenile delinquency, personality dimensions, cultural moderation
