Assessment of the Importance of Water Quality and Other Exogenous Factors for Urolithiasis in Georgia
This dataset was developed as part of a study exploring how water quality and lifestyle factors influence the development of urolithiasis (kidney stones) across different regions of Georgia. The research focused on assessing the potential role of mineral content in drinking water, dietary habits, and other environmental exposures in shaping kidney stone incidence between 2022 and 2023. The data were collected through a structured questionnaire and include information on: Socio-demographic characteristics: age, gender, education level, and place of residence Anthropometric data: body mass index (BMI) Water consumption patterns: type of drinking water and amount consumed daily Dietary habits: particularly the frequency of salty food intake Medical history: family history of kidney stone disease In addition to individual-level responses, the dataset incorporates regional statistics on urolithiasis incidence and centralized water quality data for the same period. This includes measurements of water hardness, calcium-to-magnesium (Ca:Mg) ratio, and levels of key minerals in the water supply. The file is provided in .sav format and was analyzed using SPSS software. All identifying details have been removed to ensure anonymity and comply with ethical standards.
