EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INFLATION AND GOVERNMENT SPENDING
This paper explains how government spending affects inflation, or the general rise in prices over time. It demonstrates that increased spending can support the economy during downturns, such as recessions, but that excessive money printing to finance such spending may generate inflationary pressures. The analysis also explores how targeted investments—such as those in infrastructure or healthcare—can either raise or lower prices, depending on shifts in supply and demand. Recent studies indicate that government spending does not invariably trigger inflation, particularly when economic activity is weak or when technological advancements offset price pressures. Finally, the paper examines how government spending interacts with interest rate policies to maintain inflation stability and promote sustainable economic growth.
