MODERN APPROACHES TO ALGAE-BASED WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY
Since a large amount of wastewater is generated as a by-product in many products industry, one such useful cutting-edge technology which is developing in this context is algae-based wastewater treatment. These technologies capitalize on algae's inherent capacity to absorb contaminants from water, with the added benefit of producing biofuels and biomass as valuable byproducts. Algae remove nutrients from the culture environment by nitrogen assimilation and phosphorylation [1]. Traditional as well as recent approaches in algae-driven wastewater management include the combination of various technologies and biological processes for enhancing tech-economic viability.
