Philosophical Analysis of Free Will and Determinism in the Seminary Context: Insight from BF Skinner, Viktor Frankl, and Jordan Peterson

Determinism and free will have been debated since the ancient era, and even during the contemporary period, this is still a hot concern. In particular, the seminary formation, whether seminarians are caused by the seminary rule of life or caused by their own free will. With that, the researcher sought the aid of BF Skinner, Viktor Frankl, and Jordan Peterson. BF Skinner views determinism as a behavior modifier through a design like the Seminary Rule of Life. Viktor Frankl’s insights suggest that a seminarian's behavior is determined by their own free will through their purpose to become a priest. Then, through Jordan Peterson, the rift mends through his idea of balance between chaos and order, saying that the primary source of behavior is purpose. Still, it needs guidance from a design since man’s free will alone is immature. Using the three insights, seminarians' free will and determining seminary rule of life will reconcile.
