A Study on Water Credit and Microfinance: Bridging the Gap between Financial Services and Water Security
Abstract: Access to clean water remains a challenge for many low-income communities due to financial constraints. This study examines the role of microfinance in water credit, exploring how financial services can enhance access to water and sanitation. It evaluates the effectiveness of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in facilitating water credit, sustainable financing models, and repayment structures. The research assesses the socioeconomic impact of water credit, including health benefits, productivity, and gender empowerment, while identifying key challenges such as financial risks and regulatory barriers. By analyzing global best practices, it provides policy recommendations to strengthen water credit initiatives through improved financial mechanisms and risk management strategies. This study contributes to the discourse on financial inclusion and sustainable water access, highlighting how microfinance can bridge the gap between financial services and water security. The findings aim to guide policymakers, financial institutions, and development organizations in enhancing water accessibility.
