A report on the seismic response of earth embankment foundations situated on liquefiable soils.

Abstract A study was conducted in the Shahjahanpur region of Uttar Pradesh, concentrating on foundation for an earth embankment constructed on liquefiable soils and its seismic response. Using Biot's dynamic coupled theory in conjunction with Under plane strain conditions, the seismic analysis employed an active effective stress finite element. Large-scale design research for a river's earth barrier looked at how seismic activity affects wet materials, such as sands that can be liquefied. Critical data for the geotechnical design linked to earthquakes was obtained via the modeling of liquefaction in the foundation of the embankment. The data show that the earthquake's shaking causes total liquefaction. The significant liquefaction that happens after an earthquake is responsible for the lateral spreading. Key words: Biot's, seismic, earthquakes, liquefaction
