Demystifying Open Access Publishing

Open access (OA) is imperative for ensuring unrestricted access to scientific knowledge. As part of Lakehead Unversity Library's commitment to open scholarship, and in support of the 2024 International Open Access Week, the library kick-started the #openaccessweek with two workshops (online and in person) focusing on open access publishing. This workshop focused on: background and definitions of OA publishing rationale for OA publishing routes and models of OA prospects and constraints of OA publishing retaining author's right while publishing in non-OA journals (if necessary) locating quality OA journals and avoiding predatory OA journals The workshop PowerPoint deck is attached and open for everyone to use for educational, literacy, and research purposes.
