Summary of "Health status indexes of Bulgarian population. Would social development preserve more lives than medicine?"

The summary presents the first comprehensive study of the health status of the Bulgarian population, which is influenced by various factors, including clinical care, health behaviours and genetic distinctiveness, as well as the socioeconomic and physical environment. The process of creating the first index to assess the health status of the Bulgarian population by administrative districts is outlined. The districts are then ranked and divided into groups, and recommendations for improving health status at national and district level are derived.
