Genius Loci Symposium of Ecosomatic Arts: Bodies, Places, Communities (Program + Abstracts)
The symposium Genius Loci (from Latin ‘energy or spirit of place’) explores the role of ecosomatic arts as vehicles of awareness and connection across disciplines and as gateways to valuable knowledge and necessary alliances (human and more-than-human) to respond to ecological crises through processes of perception, care and participation. Genius Loci supports the translocal sharing of processes, methodologies and visions based on the embodied and regenerative relationship with the places and communities in which artistic practices are born, grow and transform--in urban, rural, naturalistic, architectural and archaeological contexts. The symposium is aimed at eco-oriented and community-engaged artists, scholars and pedagogues in the fields of somatics, dance, choreography, performance, theater, music, film, visual, multidisciplinary and curatorial arts, education, anthropology, archaeology, architecture, philosophy, ecology and other related disciplines.
