Development of Electrical Vehicle Charging Station with Renewable Energy Integration
The rapid expansion of the electric vehicle (EV) sector highlights the pressing need for sustainable and efficient charging infrastructure. This project centers on designing an EV charging station (EVCS) that incorporates renewable energy sources, particularly solar and wind power, to help drive widespread EV adoption while reducing environmental harm. By integrating renewables into EV charging stations, the initiative not only supports efforts to reduce carbon emissions but also improves grid reliability and fosters energy independence. The proposed EVCS will adopt a hybrid model, utilizing both solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and wind turbines as its main energy sources. This dual approach aims to maximize energy output by leveraging different weather conditions, ensuring a steady and dependable supply of clean energy. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) will be included to store surplus energy produced during peak times, allowing the station to function during poor weather and at night. This guarantees that EV users will have a reliable power supply even when renewable generation is low. A key feature of the project is the implementation of advanced energy management systems (EMS) to oversee energy flow between the renewables, storage, and charging units. These EMS tools will harness smart grid technology and predictive analytics to make the most of available energy, reducing dependence on the conventional power grid and cutting overall costs. The EMS will be able to monitor real-time energy use and production, adjust charging loads when needed, and interact with the grid to efficiently balance supply and demand.
