THE IMPACT OF PSYCHOPATHIC LEADERSHIP ON ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE
This study investigates the influence of psychopathic leadership on organizational culture and employee performance in public and private sector organizations in Pakistan. While much of the literature addresses this issue in Western settings, there is a lack of research in hierarchical, collectivist cultures such as Pakistan. Using a quantitative design, data were collected from 250 employees via structured surveys. Psychopathic leadership was assessed using an adapted Triarchic Psychopathy Measure, while standardized tools evaluated organizational culture and employee performance. Correlation, regression, and MANOVA analyses revealed a significant influence of psychopathic leadership on both outcomes. Notably, traits such as boldness and superficial charm showed a temporary positive association with performance and cultural perception. However, these traits may conceal deeper risks, including long-term cultural decline and employee disengagement. The findings underscore the need for context-sensitive leadership assessment in non-Western environments, offering practical guidance for HR professionals and policymakers to promote ethical leadership and foster resilient organizational cultures.
