POSTOPERATIVE COMPLICATION PROFILES AND RECOVERY PATTERNS FOLLOWING OPEN HEART SURGERY FOR CONGENITAL CARDIAC DEFECTS IN NEONATES AND INFANTS WITH A FOCUS ON NEUROLOGICAL AND CARDIOPULMONARY OUTCOMES
Neonates and infants undergoing open-heart surgery for congenital cardiac defects face a significant risk of postoperative complications, particularly neurological and cardiopulmonary issues. These complications impact long-term development, quality of life, and survival. This paper reviews current literature from 2023, analyzing postoperative complication profiles, recovery patterns, and clinical strategies to mitigate adverse outcomes. Key findings suggest that improved perioperative care, neuroprotective strategies, and cardiopulmonary monitoring play crucial roles in optimizing patient recovery.
