FROM FICTION TO COURTROOM: THE FEMINIST STRUGGLE OF GITHA HARIHARAN
This paper explores the feminist vision in Githa Hariharan’s literary and legal work, with special focus on The Thousand Faces of Night and When Dreams Travel. Through her characters Devi, Sita, Shahrazad and Dunyazad, Hariharan rewrites myths and reveals the weight of silence. Hariharan brings back the voices of women shaped by patriarchy. Her stories connect myth with memory and connects literature with real life struggles, notably her legal battle. Hariharan’s writing shows that feminism is not only an idea. It is a lived experience stitched together from stories, silence, struggle, and the fight for dignity and recognition.
