Pterotaenia peruana Malloch 1933

Pterotaenia peruana Malloch, 1933: 257. (Fig. 14) Holotype. Male (USNM), Peru, Trujillo. Distribution. Peru. Chile: Región del Maule: Cauquenes Province (Constitución), Fig. 14. References. Steyskal, 1968: 10 (cat., distr., as Pterotaenia); Frías, 1981a: 52–53 (desc.), fig. 16 (lateral view of the head), fig. 34 (lateral view of the antenna), fig. 250 (wing), fig. 291 (chromosomes), fig. 316 (idiograms), fig. 327 (enzymes); Steyskal, 1991: 28 (in key, as Ceroxys). Comments. Olalquiaga (1964: 83) cited specimens from Codpa (Región de Arica y Parinacota: Arica Province), identified by G. Steyskal as Pterotaenia sp.; presumably may correspond to P. peruana. Olalquiaga (1968) additionally cited other specimens reared from pears collected at Quebrada de Suca (Región de Tarapacá: Tamarugal Province), identified as Acrosticta sp. by the late G. Steyskal. As the specimens are unknown for the authors, it is impossible to check the last identification.
