DR-in-a-Box presents a novel server less disaster recovery architecture designed for the unique requirements of cloud-native enterprise workloads on AWS. As organizations increasingly adopt micro services architectures, traditional disaster recovery approaches have proven inadequate, creating a need for more agile, cost-effective solutions. This framework eliminates the need for standby infrastructure through a fully event-driven approach that leverages AWS Lambda, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB, and Cloud formation. This article details the3 architecture's design principles, implementation methodology, and operational workflow, demonstrating how organizations can achieve improved recovery metrics while significantly reducing operational overhead. Through this case study of an e-commerce analytics platform, it demonstrates how DR-in-a-Box enables rapid failover, simplified compliance, and cross-region portability while maintaining a pay-as-you-go cost model that aligns with cloud-native principles.
