Unveiling Opportunities: A Study on International Student Mobility in Indian Universities

Abstract: The phenomena of higher education internationalisation have gained significant prominence on a worldwide scale, marked by the movement of international students who are in search of educational prospects outside of their countries of origin. This research investigates the movement of international students in India, analysing patterns, determinants, obstacles, and the consequences for Indian higher education establishments. By conducting an extensive examination of existing scholarly works, this research aims to clarify the idea of internationalisation within the context of higher education. Additionally, it seeks to offer a historical perspective on the phenomenon of international student mobility in India. Factors influencing international students' decisions to study in India, including economic, academic, and cultural considerations, are analysed. Comparing international student mobility in other nations reveals worldwide trends and possibilities for improvement in India. This study adds to the literature on internationalisation of higher education and helps policymakers, educators, and stakeholders improve international students' experiences in India.
