MULTI-SCALE ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENT TRANSPORT IN ESTUARINE SYSTEMS INFLUENCED BY CLIMATE CHANGE-INDUCED HYDROLOGICAL VARIABILITY
Estuarine systems are increasingly vulnerable to climate change, with sediment transport significantly affected by hydrological variability. This paper examines the multi-scale processes governing sediment transport in estuarine systems, focusing on the implications of climate change-induced variability. The study integrates insights from past research, coupled with hypothetical data and visualizations, to explore these dynamics. Results indicate that sediment transport is sensitive to shifts in freshwater inflow, sea-level rise, and extreme weather events. This research contributes to understanding sediment transport mechanisms and highlights future research needs.
