The Resonance Index: A Structural Measure of Space and Existence
This paper introduces two novel structural quantities—the Resonance Index and Structural Pressure—as alternative measures for characterizing physical space and matter. Departing from conventional descriptions based on mass density and kinetic energy, this framework defines existence as a function of resonance. The Resonance Index (ℛℛ), given by log10(×), quantifies the structural vibrational capacity of a spatial region based on particle density and their highest resonant frequencies. Structural Pressure, defined as ×, measures the total resonance density per unit volume. Using this model, the paper compares various environments—from intergalactic space to Earth’s sea-level atmosphere—revealing an unseen structural richness of space governed not by matter alone but by resonant organization. This resonance-based approach supports a closed-surface ontology and redefines existence as a vibrational structure, rather than a collection of point-like particles.
