Artistic Gymnastics As An Instrument To Improve The Mood Of Researchers. Preliminary Study

Abstract: Introduction: Artistic gymnastics is proposed as a tool to improve emotional well-being, taking advantage of the release of hormones and positive feelings offered by the activity. Aim: This study examines the impact of mood on university research staff, highlighting the emotional challenges associated with the nature of academic work. Methods: The research, involving 17 university researchers, assesses mood before and after an artistic gymnastics session using the POMS scale. Results & discussion: The results reveal significant decreases in the total score and in all factors, indicating potential benefits. Gender differences are observed. Conclusions: It is suggested that artistic gymnastics may be especially beneficial for emotional well-being in the academic environment, and could be considered as a complementary workday to this job. However, the need for further research is highlighted.
