NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM OF THE CREEPING MOTION OF A VISCOUS LAYER ALONG THE SLOPE OF AN ELEVATION

The problem of creeping motion of a highly viscous layer modelling the process of occurrence of landslides of sedimentary rocks located on the surface of an upland area is posed and solved. As a result of mechanistic and mathematical modelling, a mathematical problem about a quasilinear parabolic type equation is obtained. The finite-difference method has been used to solve the obtained mathematical problem; a nonlinear implicit computational scheme has been chosen, on the basis of which an algorithm for solving the problem has been formulated and a computer programme has been developed. Numerical experiment was carried out for various possible variants; mechanical characteristics of clayey rocks were taken as initial data of physical parameters. The results of the study are presented in the form of graphs.
