Warfarin and Its Interactions: Key Information for Safe Use
Warfarin is an anticoagulant medication with a narrow therapeutic window, meaning the difference between its therapeutic and toxic concentrations is small. This drug is prone to interactions with other medications, foods, herbal products, and dietary supplements. Therefore, it is crucial to understand how these substances can affect the efficacy and safety of warfarin. This document summarizes the findings of a systematic review on warfarin interactions with food, herbs, and dietary supplements, published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology in 2020.
