INVESTIGATING CONDITIONS FOR AMINOLYSIS OF SECONDARY POLYCARBONATE
This article presents the findings of the aminolysis process of secondary polycarbonate (IPC), which is used in automotive headlights, optical discs, polymer roofs, etc., using monoethanolamine (MEA) in the presence of catalyst sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was used as a catalyst, taken in a ratio of 1% to the secondary polycarbonate (PC). The primary focus was degrading secondary polycarbonate (PC) to bisphenol A (BPA), and identifying optimal conditions needed for this degradation. Additionally, the duration of aminolysis, the effects of catalyst (NaOH) and monoethanolamine (MEA) amounts on monomer formation were studied. The process was carried out at an IPC:MEA ratio of 1:3 mol/mol. Aminolysis was carried out from 6 to 10 hours at a temperature of 190°C. The results indicate the main physical and chemical parameters of the product.
