Human-Nature Relationship in Tagore's Selected Short Stories: A Perspective on Posthuman Ecology

The objective of this research paper is to find the presentations of nature, human beings and their relationship with one another in the short stories of R.N.Tagore. The short stories under discussion present different ways of presentation of nature with respect to human beings. An attempt has been made to make a comparative analysis and explore how nature in Tagore’s short stories, “Hungry Stone” and “The Home-coming”, depicting the significance of inclusion of Nature’s flora and fauna, the greeneries, and the natural environment in the domain of human existence, differs in the above stories. Anthropocentrism is questioned in both the South Asian short stories. Theoretical concept of posthuman-ecocriticism has been used in this study for examining the comparative roles of human beings and the natural environment. This study uses a content analysis method and the study reveals that human beings are affected by nature differently under varied circumstances and situations.

The objective of this research paper is to find the presentations of nature, human beings and their relationship with one another in the short stories of R.N.Tagore. The short stories under discussion present different ways of presentation of nature with respect to human beings.
