Zinc Chloride an efficient catalyst for the Synthesis of α-hydrxyphosphonates
Zinc chloride serves as a cost-effective, efficient, non-toxic, and gentle catalyst for the synthesis of α-hydroxyphosphonates from 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde and triethylphosphite, using ultrasound irradiation in a solvent-free environment. This method offers several notable benefits: it involves straightforward experimental procedures, achieves shorter reaction times, provides high product yields, and promotes environmentally friendly practices by eliminating the need for toxic catalysts and solvents. All synthesized compounds were characterized using IR, ¹H NMR, and mass spectroscopy.
