Conservation Conversations at the Harvard Art Museums. What's next? The connection between the evolution of conservation principles in the United States and Europe.
As the result of a Research Stay in the Real Colegio Complutense in Harvrad University, the work presents a first approach regarding the conservation principles in the United States and Europe, contrasting traditional approaches with critical conservation. The importance of the Fogg Museum at Harvard as a pioneer in the integration of scientific knowledge into conservation and the development of codes of ethics during the 20th Century is highlighted. Critical conservation is presented as an approach that questions objectivity, recognises multiple interpretations and encourages the inclusion of diverse perspectives in the process. Finally, the connection between theory and practice in conservation is highlighted.
