PREREQUISITES FOR IMPLEMENTING THE UNION OF UKRAINIAN ORGANIZATIONS IN AMERICA

The prerequisites for the formation of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in America were considered. It is noted that the origins of the public institution must be sought at the beginning of the 20th century. It was established that the events of the First World War and the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921 significantly influenced the formation of the national consciousness of Ukrainians in the USA, contributed to the development of Ukrainian public, cultural and political organizations, and also led to ideological differentiation among the diaspora. It is noted that an important role in these processes was played by the Ukrainian People's Union (UNS) and other organizations that tried to consolidate the Ukrainian community to support national liberation struggles in the homeland, which later led to the formation of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in America (1922).
