The 4D Theory of Consciousness: A Dimensional Solution to the Hard Problem
This paper presents a novel four-dimensional theory of consciousness that resolves the hard problem by reconceptualizing consciousness as temporal desire-emotion-prediction patterns. The key insight is that conscious beings lack direct sensory access to the fourth dimension (time), necessitating predictive inference from three-dimensional sensory fragments. This dimensional asymmetry explains both subjective experience and qualitative character (qualia) as necessary compression mechanisms. The theory provides testable hypotheses including the Musical Pattern Coherence Index (MPCI) and explains why current AI systems fail to achieve consciousness despite computational sophistication.
