Yoga's Past and Present: A Comprehensive Overview
Abstract: The history of traditional yoga practices originates directly to the Indus Valley Civilisation, the Vedic and Upanishad traditions, and the Buddhist and Jain traditions. In the ancient tradition of yoga, Shiva is considered the first yogi. Yoga's scientific roots date back much before the emergence of the first religions or belief systems. Under the direction of the Gurus and the impact of nature, yoga was practiced at that period, and its spiritual significance was given particular weight. Yoga was renowned in the past solely for its ability to help people reach the greatest state of awareness. Yoga now encompasses more than just spirituality; it also fosters the mental, physical, and social well-being of a healthy individual. According to more recent data, yogic practices are becoming more popular as a therapeutic tool for treating mental and physical health conditions. These days, several renowned yoga clinics, yoga therapy, and wellness centres, as well as medical facilities and therapeutic setups, have an influence on yoga teaching and practices. People practise yoga to keep up their lifestyle and health.
