Strengthening Governance and Policy Frameworks for Sustainable Development: Addressing Corruption, Transparency, and Regulatory Challenges

Abstract Effective policy and governance are fundamental to achieving sustainable development. However, weak governance structures and ineffective policies pose significant challenges to the successful implementation of sustainable practices. Corruption, lack of transparency, and inadequate regulatory frameworks create systemic barriers that hinder progress toward environmental, social, and economic sustainability. This paper explores the critical role of governance in shaping sustainable development outcomes and examines how policy failures contribute to inefficiencies and inequalities. By analysing case studies and policy frameworks, the study highlights the need for institutional reforms, enhanced transparency, and stronger regulatory mechanisms. It argues that a well-functioning governance system, backed by clear and enforceable policies, is essential for fostering sustainable development. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving governance structures to promote long-term sustainability. Keywords: Governance, Public Policy, Sustainable Development, Transparency.
