Groundbreaking Integration of Hemp-Derived Carbon Nanosheets in Composite Materials: The HDCNS-Composites Framework and Diamond Composites Theory – A Novel, Open Source Release
This paper presents a comprehensive theoretical framework, originated by the author,Marie Seshat Landry, for integrating Hemp-Derived Carbon Nanosheets (HDCNS), alsoknown as hemp graphene, into composite materials across a broad spectrum of matrices. This work defines a novel theoretical material class termed HDCNS-Composites. HDCNS,recognized from prior research primarily for properties like high specific surface area valu-able in energy storage devices such as supercapacitors [1], are proposed herein, based on the author’s original theory, for a novel and systematic application as advanced reinforcements in composite materials science. The Diamond Composites Theory is introduced as a specific subclass within this framework, detailing a theoretical formulation derived entirely from 100% hemp-based, organic components: HDCNS (reinforcement), functionalized hemp oilepoxy (matrix), and hemp lignin (curing agent/co-reinforcement) – collectively termed the"Hemp Triforce." Detailed theoretical recipes and integration pathways are presented, including the conceptual incorporation of strategic additives or potentially upcycled materials (requiring significant further definition and validation). This paper systematically explores the theoretical integration of HDCNS into a wide array of matrices, encompassing biobased systems (PLA, PHA), conventional thermosets (epoxies, phenolics), thermoplastics(PE, PP), elastomers (natural rubber), and advanced high-performance polymers (PEEK,polyimides). A thorough scientific background drawing on existing literature in materials science, hemp processing, and nanotechnology is provided. Established mathematical modeling approaches (Rule of Mixtures, Halpin-Tsai equations) are applied conceptually to predict the theoretical properties of these novel composite systems, alongside proposals for experimental validation protocols. Critically acknowledging the current theoretical nature of this framework, all original concepts, theories, formulations, recipes, and theoretical proposals presented herein are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license to foster open collaboration, accelerate research and development, and promote innovation in the vital field of sustainable, high-performance composite materials. Rigorous experimental validation is identified as the essential next step to confirm the proposed properties and performance characteristics.
