Evaluation experiments in Information Retrieval
Evaluation is a process of feedback which investigate the degree to which the goals and expectations have been achieved. Information storage and retrieval systems are evaluated from different viewpoints such as users, economy, coverage, man-power, etc. Many information scientists hold that an evaluation of information retrieval system should be user-oriented. At times it can also be management-oriented. The document contains an overview of different types of evaluation experiments.
