Pseudorthocladius (Pseudorthocladius) berthelemyi Moubayed 1990
Pseudorthocladius (Pseudorthocladius) berthelemyi Moubayed, 1990 Material examined. 11 pupal exuvia, Rika River (S 6), 7 May 2018. Distribution. Palaearctic. Austria, Bulgaria, Corsica, France, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, and Morocco (Ashe and O’Connor 2012). Habitat. Mountain streams and rivers with stony bottoms. The species is rheophilic, cold-stenothermal with high demand for dissolved oxygen (Martínez et al 1995; Moubayed-Breil et al. 2012). It can also inhabit hygropetric sites (Moubayed-Breil 2008). Remarks. The species is considered a Mediterranean element (Moubayed-Breil 2008) with an originally circum-mediterranean distribution (Laville and Langton 2002). The extra-Mediterranean occurrence in more northerly countries indicates its relict character (see comments to Cricotopus beckeri).
