nf-core/reportho: A pipeline for comparative analysis of ortholog predictions
Orthologs are genes that arose from a single ancestral gene through speciation. As such, they provide valuable insight into the history of the species and evolutionary pressures acting on the genes. Identifying orthologs is challenging. Multiple high-quality methods have been developed to predict ortholog, but their predictions can differ strongly. Additionally, the pre-computed predictions stored in public databases have non-homogeneous formats. nf-core/reportho aims to facilitate the informed use of orthologs in research through automated data fetching, format harmonization, and reference-free performance comparison.
