Okres poznański w historii Zarządu Głównego Polskiego Towarzystwa Entomologicznego

In the hundred-year history of the Polish Entomological Society, the seat of the Main Board has changed only five times. Before World War II, it was located in Lviv, and after the war, in Wrocław (twice), Lublin, Warsaw, and Poznań. Each of these relocations was set against the backdrop of Poland’s history – a country rebuilding its national identity in the interwar period, rising from the ruins after the war, dealing with the hardships of the Communist era and the subsequent political transformation period, as well as facing the challenges of the 21st century. Just like the course of history, the successive seats also left their mark on the functioning of the Society, both through the unique atmosphere of the scientific communities they represented and through the character and energy of the individuals who helped shape the successive boards. The following study focuses on the “Poznań period” in the history of the Main Board’s activities, presenting the course and behind-the-scenes events that are not commonly found in historiographical studies. In some places, these events are accompanied by comments from the authors—people who were directly involved in them.
