Cloud Technology for Enhanced Academic Library Services: A Comprehensive Review
ABSTRACT The current communication explores how cloud computing could transform academic library services. Libraries face tremendous challenges in efficiently managing, accessing, and disseminating information due to the exponential growth of digital resources and the changing needs of academic communities. By transforming their services, resource management, and support for research and learning activities, cloud technology is completely changing academic libraries. Library management systems (LMS), institutional repositories, and digital collections management are some examples of these technologies. By improving their services, resource management, and assistance for teaching, learning, and information literacy initiatives, cloud technology is transforming academic libraries. Academic libraries now rely heavily on cloud technology to improve services, optimize operations, facilitate research and learning, and adjust to changing educational and technological trends. By offering scalable, on-demand access to computer resources and storage capabilities, cloud technology presents a possible option. This paper examines the many uses of cloud technology in academic libraries, such as data management, digital preservation, collaboration tools, and user services, by conducting a thorough assessment of the body of existing literature. It also looks at the advantages, difficulties, and best practices related to using cloud-based technologies. According to the findings, cloud technology has the potential to revolutionize academic library services by promoting increased efficiency, accessibility, and collaboration. However, there are several implementation issues that must be resolved.
