Best practices on the calibration of current-meters and current profilers
This document is MINKE’s Deliverable 9.10 “Best practices on the calibration of current-meters and current profilers”. Two methods are summarized and highlight the most relevant publications supporting the community recommendations. These methods include compass and tilt sensors calibrations that allow retrieval of the three directional components of marine currents velocity vector from standalone current-meters or current profilers. In addition, we propose a method to detect transducers’ faulty functioning that will also affect the Doppler effect measurements. This characterization allows for a more accurate quantification of the amplitude of marine currents.
