Pojazd, towarzysz, fetysz, narkotyk. Rzecz o rowerze w "Cyklist" Przemysława Owczarka

Vehicle, Companion, Fetish, Drug. About the Bicycle in „Cyklist” by Przemysław Owczarek In the introduction, the author outlines a broader context for research in the field of so-called “roweratura” (so-called “cycleture”), and literary-cultural anthropology of cycling. The introduction refers to the theses of Marc Augé from the book Éloge de la bicyclette (In Praise of the Bicycle). The author also refers to a corpus of texts directly related to cycling as a literary-cultural practice, including Running a Finger Over the Map. A Manifesto of Cycling Anthropology by Kacper Pobłocki and works collected in the post-conference anthology Cycleture. Bicycle in Literature and Culture, edited by Katarzyna Kończal, Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Koschany, and Zuzanna Kołupajło. Furthermore, the author analyses the poetry book Cyklist by Przemysław Owczarek. Additionally, an examination is conducted concerning the motto of the aforementioned book and its source material, the Norwegian novel Doppler by Erlend Loe, which guides the reader towards potential satirical interpretations of Owczarek’s book. Cyklist is presented as a multifaceted project utilising various registers and embedding diverse intertexts in the local context of the city of Łódź and its suburbs. The analyses highlight the creative potential of the bicycle as an invention influencing the nature of literary activity, the specific “cyclicity” and “collage-like” qualities of such pieces of literature.
