Introduction og NFDI4ING's Base Service Standardization at All-Hands-Meeting 2024
NFDI4ING, the consortium for engineering within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), has adopted and is actively developing the NFDI Request for Comments (NFDI-RFC) concept as a tool to support community-driven discourse and standardization in research data management (RDM). NFDI-RFC is formalized text document that specifies and explains a technical issue. In this presentation, the adoption of the Request for Comments (RFC) concept, originally developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), for NFDI is introduced and pitched. The pitch explores the adaptation of NFDI-RFCs in the NFDI context, outlining how they serve as a structured yet flexible format for doc-umenting and discussing evolving best practices, policies, and technical specifications. The presentation has been held at the NFDI4ING All-Hands-Meeting 2024 in Hannover.
