Gamma spectrometry utilizing an HPGe detector was used to assess the activity concentrations of natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K in surface soil samples over ground water and non-groundwater zones from Pune City, Maharashtra, India. For the radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K, the average activity concentration values in the soil samples were 8.2–17.4, 8.2-21.1, and 107–330, respectively.
